WHAT THIS IS:
An honest personal observation by a nurse who has seen abortion close-up, has been following the abortion issue and the global prolife movement for decades and is a prolife activist.

WHAT THIS IS NOT:
An
acaedemic study. Most references point you to websites which in turn point you
to studies or testimonies. I placed some links in the text, and some in the
notes at the back.
NOTE
I
grumble about media bias, then direct the reader to various newspaper reports
to back up my points! However, while the newspapers might report an incident
like, for instance, safety and consent violations at an abortion business, or babies
born alive and left to die, this never seems to generate any outrage or even
mild concern. There’s a taboo around discussing the ugly side of abortion.
You
can’t have any conversation which reflects badly on abortion.
This
is why the Debate in Ireland right now is so unusual, and very healthy, in
spite of its divisiveness. Few other countries get to have the Conversation.
The
Irish people have ownership of the issue of the protection of unborn children,
it doesn’t belong to politicians or the courts, and while the 8th
Amendment stands, little or nothing can be done behind their backs.

Dr. Aleck Bourne was key to changing public opinion about abortion in the UK. He performed an illegal abortion on a young girl who had been raped by five men. He then turned himself into police. The trial was sensational. He was acquitted. Some years later, the Abortion Act came into Law. Soon after, Dr. Bourne was appalled at the wide application of the Act. He became a founding member of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children.
